The Location
An exciting opportunity is available for a Consultant Anaesthetist for our Anaesthetics Department. In this role you will provide a high standard of anaesthetic care to patients in Hospital. You will also provide administrative leadership in combination with other Anaesthetists and take responsibility for policy development and review and provide training, supervision and education for GP Anaesthetists, Senior Medical Practitioners and Doctors in Training.

The Hospital
The Hospital is a recently revitalised 106-bed general inpatient facility and the second largest regional public hospital in WA. It services more than 50,000 residents as well as outlying towns, and rural and remote communities in the region. Consultation and Liaison services are provided to the hospital and other small hospitals in the region. Overview of this city, a town of 30,000 people, is just short a short trip from Perth, the major referral centre for the regional in Western Australia which had 61900 residents in 2013 and projected to increase to 68400 by 2023. We service the local community, in addition to many, some very remote towns and Aboriginal communities, with exciting and varied cultural and medical challenges. This city is a hub for the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia, with excellent shopping, school and recreational opportunities, a gateway to explore the outback including the iconic hicking route, and exploring tracks, as well as Esperance and the southern coastline.
A truly collegial network will support you through clinical and corporate responsibilities and you will work without supervision in a multidisciplinary team.

About You
Suitable candidates must be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA), hold fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent.
Have demonstrated experience in Specialist Anaesthetics at a senior level and contemporary knowledge of professional issues and trends in Anaesthetics.
You must have highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with a commitment to clinical governance within healthcare. Significant experience in rural and remote Anaesthetic provision and sound understanding of remote area health service provision is desirable.

• The FANZA and working in Australian or New Zealand
• At least 12 months prior experience working as an SMO and working in Australian or New Zealand
• Experience and interest in anaesthetist
• IMG 10+ years experience undergoing ANZCA assessment
