About your opportunity

Permanent part-time, 32 hours per fortnight.

The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) works under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse, who acts in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's decision-making framework. The AIN assists and provide nursing support to the Registered nurses and Enrolled nurses and provides care for patients and families. The RN delegates patient care and service activities to the AIN, however, the AIN retains responsibility for their personal actions and fulfilling their role within their approved scope of practice.

The Sub Acute Care Service at the Townsville University Hospital provides restorative and rehabilitation services and promotes independence in activities of daily living that helps regain functional capacity and reduce functional decline. The Sub-Acute Care Unit (SACU) is designed to provide therapeutic programs and activities for hospitalised patients to meet their functional, cognitive and social goals within the rehabilitation and restorative model of care.

Generous pro rata remuneration package(based on full-time equivalent value) up to $31,173 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $29.80 to $32.63 p.h. (Nurse Grade 1 Band 1)
  • 17.5% annual leave loading
  • 12.75% employercontribution to superannuation

Requirements

  • It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role:Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Highly Desirable: Applicants who meet one of the following criteria are considered highly desirable:
    • Hold a relevant Certificate III in Aged Care, Health Service Assistant or equivalent, or
    • Successful completion of the first semester full-time equivalent Diploma of Nursing course including all theoretical and clinical competencies, or
    • Successful completion of the first year full-time equivalent undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing course including all theoretical and clinical competencies.
  • 3 month probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
