Clinical Assistant Full-time Job

Job Details

The purpose of the role is to perform duties which include receiving, preparing, and sending specimens foranalysis, computer registration of request forms, processing stores, assisting with clinical pathology duties,cleaning and other duties as directed. This would also include the accurate and timely collection of bloodspecimens from inpatients and outpatients.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to learn all aspect of pre-analytical work.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn phlebotomy including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately within minimal supervision.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills including abilities to be flexible, to work in a team, establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, laboratory, medical and nursing staff at all levels.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • While not mandatory, a relevant qualification would be well regarded
  • You will be required to work shift and weekend in accordance with the award.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD and Covid Vaccination) requirements

  • Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
