The Role
An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurses (Child Health) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Undertake holistic nursing assessment, provide parenting support, developmental anticipatory guidance and referral services
- Ensure a holistic approach to the health care needs of the client
- Act as a resource person for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and referring agencies
- Act as an advocate for the infant/child and their family and change agent to support positive health outcomes
- Provide care and required visits in the community, home and hospital as suitable for the client
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
- AHPRA Registration
- A graduate certificate or greater within a relevant specialty area is highly desirable
- While not mandatory, previous Child Health experience would be well regarded
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Salary
- Temporary full time, temporary part time (several positions, 6 to 12 months with the possibility of extension, hrs negotiable)
- Base salary ranging from $104 816 - $112 236 per annum, $52.86 - $56.60 per hour

Co-led and co-designed by the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, Identified Midwifery Navigator, GCHHS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander unit and Griffith Universities Professor of First Peoples Health. Waijungbah Jarjums provides a community based one-stop hub for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and babies across the first 1000 days with a continuity of midwifery care group practice, Child Health Nurses, Allied Health and Health Workers.
This is a non-Identified temporary position that will work alongside an Identified Advanced Health Worker Child Health to provide cultural guidance and support. It was determined early in the community consultation that the local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community wanted to be cared for by their own people as this provides cultural safety, facilitates the sharing of innate cultural knowledge, minimises the risk of shame' and increases engagement in services and outcomes. This service is based in Southport.
