The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (McGrath Early Breast Care)to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide expert clinical advice and clinical leadership on evidence-based breast care services to nursing staff, allied health and the multidisciplinary team
  • Provide specialied breast care, information, education and support to clients relating to breast cancer in accordance with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and the McGrath Model of Care
  • Facilitate the continuity of patient care, education, treatment scheduling, patient access to information and services, and referral to support services for patients with breast cancer
  • Coordinate patient flow through comprehensive patient assessment, development and communication of evidence-based treatment, care plans and management of the care delivery process

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Post graduate qualification in breast cancer nursing, oncology or palliative care
  • Minimum of five years fulltime equivalent post registration experience as a registered nurse with at least three years recent fulltime equivalent experience in Oncology, Palliative Care or Breast Cancer Nursing
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Salary

  • Temporary full time (12 months with possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $118 993 - $129 189 per annum

About Us

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (McGrath Early Breast Care) position has been established in partnership with, and sponsored by, the McGrath Foundation.

The positions form part of the Specialist Cancer Nursing Team as part of the Cancer and Blood Disorders and Respiratory Service, Division of Medicine, Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS). The Specialist Cancer Nursing Team is tumour streamed and encompasses the entire patient journey from diagnosis through to survivorship or palliation. The Specialist Cancer Nursing Team dedicates their efforts at the diagnosis, treatment planning, follow-up, and survivorship stages to improve the patient experience of the cancer journey throughout GCHHS.
