About your opportunity

Permanent part-time,56 hours per fortnight.

The purpose of the Clinical Nurse is to provide clinical expertise, support, and education to nursing staff within the unit to ensure best practice and quality patient care to patients of all ages and cultural groups, recognising the importance of individuals and their families.

The Townsville Hospital Emergency Department (ED) provides treatment to approximately 80 000 patients per calendar year. The type of treatment varies according to the presenting complaint of the patient. The priority of treatment is indicated according to the triage category allocated to the patient on their arrival at ED.

The ED has established patient flow practices which include Fast Track, Paediatrics, Step down and Streaming areas. These innovations have proven to be very successful in managing daily attendances. The ED also has a Short Stay Unit which is operating as a 16-bed unit.

Generous remuneration package value up to $00,000 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of$48.87 to $52.33p.h. (NG6-1)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a required qualification for this position.
  • Highly Desirable: Tertiary Qualification relevant to the position or working towards a relevant Qualification
  • Advanced Life Support: Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per Townsville Hospital and Health Service policy Life Support Training and Assessment -THSDCLI040151v6 (http://qheps.health.qld.gov.au/tville/policies/thsdcli/thsdcli040151.pdf(PDF) ( http://qheps.health.qld.gov.au/tville/policies/thsdcli/thsdcli040151.pdf )
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • 6 month probation period.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
