The Clinical Nurse/Midwife provides advanced level clinical skills to ensure patient-focused evidence-based nursing/midwifery care, plans and coordinates the clinical management of patient/client care and provides leadership and support to other nursing/midwifery staff within the Women's Health Unit.
About the Team
The Women's Health Unit has approximately 1500 births per year and is a referral service for rural facilities within the Mackay Health Service. It incorporates a 12 bed Inpatient Area, 6 bed Birth Suite, Birth Centre, Clinics and Special Care Nursery. Midwifery models of care have expanded to include a Midwifery Group Practice and community care. Opportunities for continuing education and advancement are offered and teamwork is a central value.
Mackay Hospital and Health Service ( https://www.mackay.health.qld.gov.au/ ) has six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres that employ more than 3,300 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
