The role
Reporting to the Principal Business Coordinator, the Executive Support Officer is responsible for the effective and efficient conduct of the President and Deputy President's offices.
The role requires a person with education and/or experience and personal maturity sufficient to enable them to converse confidently with persons occupying high office in professional settings. They must have good communication skills, including an ability to write clear and correct English.
The Executive Support Officer must possess attitudes and a personality which enable them to work cooperatively and respectfully within the organisation, including demonstrating empathy and understanding towards vulnerable population groups.
The role also requires demonstration of discretion, confidentiality, tact, initiative, reliability, resilience and the ability to work in confronting and challenging circumstances.
The position requires a motivated individual who is committed to the highest level of client service and is able to set priorities and work under pressure.
The successful person
You will have:
- Proven ability and experience in effectively managing and prioritising the administrative functions and associated activities for Executive staff
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to utilise a high degree of initiative, decision-making skills and reliability in operating independently with minimal guidance and direction.
- Knowledge and understanding of, or an ability to acquire knowledge and understanding of, the Tribunal's operating environment and its statutory role under the Mental Health Act 2016.
The position may require travel within Queensland from time to time to visit organisations and venues.

The Mental Health Review Tribunal (the Tribunal) is an independent decision-making body continued under the Mental Health Act 2016. The primary purpose of the Tribunal is to review the involuntary status of persons with mental illnesses and/or intellectual disability, including the review of treatment authorities, forensic orders, treatment support orders, a person's fitness for trial, and the detention of a minor in a high security unit. The Tribunal also hears applications for examination authorities, applications to perform regulated treatments and approvals for patients to transfer into and out of Queensland. The Tribunal also hears a limited number of appeals.
