About your opportunity

The Adolescent Inpatient Unit and Day Service is currently seeking to recruit a Nurse Unit Manager to their team on a permanent full-time basis.

The inpatient unit is an acute care adolescent mental health unit with a capacity of 8 beds with an average length of stay of 7 to 14 days. The unit is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides for planned and emergency admissions. The unit admits young people from across the whole of the Northern Region. The target population is 12-18-year old's with mental illness who are not able to be treated adequately in the community because of the complexity or acuity of their needs.

Generous remuneration package value up to $147,834 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $4561.00 to $4951.80 p.f. (Nurse Grade 7)
  • 4, 5, 6 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

  • It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Possession ofrelevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing would be well regarded for a position at this level.
  • Appointmentto this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses is highly desirable.
  • Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be well regarded.
  • Ongoingprofessional development relevant to the delivery of specialist Mental Health Services to maintain appropriate registration and/or association requirements is a requirement of all staff within the MHSG.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the Service.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
