The Role

An opportunity has become available for an Occupational Therapist(Alcohol and Other Drugs) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Deliver Occupational Therapy clinical services within the multidisciplinary team
  • Utilise Occupational Therapy clinical skills when engaging in the core services provided by Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Conduct home visits when required within the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service district
  • Provide supervision to assistants, volunteers and less experienced staff for routine tasks

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Driver licence
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

About Us

The Alcohol and Other Drug Service (AODS) service is focused on developing and providing innovative solutions to reduce the harmful impact of alcohol and drug use. AODS has two community teams based in Southport and Palm Beach which offer triage, assessment, support, case management, individual counselling, groups, opioid replacement treatment, and outpatient detox.

The teams are multidisciplinary and consist of Psychiatrists specialising in addiction, Medical Officers, Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses, Peer Recovery Workers, Educators and Administration Officers. In addition, AODS also has two hospital based teams working at Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital supporting individuals with problematic substance use who present to the Emergency Department or are admitted to the medical wards of the hospitals. AODS also works closely with Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) to ensure that the consumer's needs are met with the most appropriate resources.
