About your opportunity

Peer Worker / Permanent Part-time / 28 hours p.f.

The Peer worker will Assist Consumers, Carers/Families, Service Providers and Non-Government Organisations to develop a better understanding of the recovery framework. You will Utilise your lived experience of mental health concerns and recovery to serve as a positive role model and work towards achieving the best outcomes for consumers. The Peer Worker will promote consumer and carer participation within inpatient units and community care units.

Highly desirable requirements of the role include: Experience working within a public mental health service or the NGO sector as a Mental Health Peer Worker

Generous pro rata remuneration package (based on full-time equivalent value) up to $87,657 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $34.66 to $38.74 p.h. (AO3)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

About the Role

  • Serve as a positive role model to consumers and staff and as a source of information on their personal experience of managing their mental health.
  • Co-facilitate training to staff and students as required.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams and complement existing services to assist consumers on their recovery journey within the community.
  • Actively identify areas of improvement to the service and the inpatient services environment.
  • Assist consumers in their recovery planning from a peer perspective.

Requirement

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or the ability to undertake a certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
  • Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
