About the role

Manage and lead the building, infrastructure and maintenance procurement function across Metro North Hospital and Health Service in commercial matters relating to the contracts, purchasing and inventory functions.

The role is responsible for providing a cost effective, risk managed customer service outcome to Metro North Health in conjunction with the Director, Commercial Activities. The Principal Procurement and Contracts Officer, Building Infrastructure and Maintenance Services has carriage of procurement activities for Metro North covering, but not limited to:

  • Professional services as it relates to building consultancies, such as architectural and engineering engagements.
  • Building contracts for small scale, minor, moderate and major capital works projects.
  • Building contracts for critical infrastructure such as lift installation, chiller installation.
  • Service and maintenance contracts as it relates to buildings e.g. sterilisation equipment, theatre equipment, lifts, water treatment etc.
  • Panel and Standing Offer Arrangements as it relates to building supply, services and consumables.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated leadership and proven experience in managing a small team, within a larger team environment, delivering a high volume of routine' and strategic' procurement activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and implement local procurement opportunities that align with the overall strategic plan of Metro North.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, manage, implement and deliver strategic procurement solutions and improvement initiatives incorporating Queensland Procurement Policies, Queensland Building and Construction Commission requirements and legislative requirements.
  • High-level conceptual and analytical skills to identify and analyse issues and develop quality options and strategies to resolve complex procurement issues.
  • Exceptional inter-personal skills capable of confident and sensitive communications, particularly when engaging with contractors and end-user stakeholders to support effective business change, including the ability to initiate relationships and influence key stakeholders in reference to supplier relationship management and control of contract documentation.
  • Demonstrated responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage large scale infrastructure procurement activities including supplier negotiation and involvement of multiple parties.
  • Contractual knowledge of Australian Standard Contracts such as AS4300, AS2124, AS4305 and AS4122.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and managing contractual relationships over short and long term contracts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of procurement requirements, particularly in relation to requirements for Government procurement activities.
