About your opportunity
Registered Midwives deliver safe compassionate midwifery care, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve best practice patient outcomes. Midwives prioritise women centred care to women, families and newborns through effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of midwifery care.
Generous remuneration packagevalue up to $113,391 AUD p.a. comprising:
- Salary range $2961.10 to $3798.10 AUD p.f. (Nurse Grade 5)
- 5 or 6 weeks annual leave + 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Additional entitlements including shift allowance, sick leave, professional development

Requirements
- Mandatory: Bachelor of Midwifery (or equivalent).
- Midwifery: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties.
- The successful applicant will be required to complete The Townsville Hospital mandatory competencies and the Maternity Support Unit mandatory competencies, the Drug Therapy Protocol, Examination of the Newborn package and the Water Immersion in Labour package, within three months of commencement.
- Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
- It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD): Health Care Workers in Queensland Health whose occupation poses a potential risk of exposure to blood or body fluids are required to provide evidence of vaccinations or proof that they are not susceptible to the following: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella and Pertussis.
