About your opportunity
Permanent part-time 56 hours p.f.
The Registered Nurse position with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will be located at the Townsville University Hospital. The Registered Nurse will provide direct nursing care to support babies, families and nursing staff utilising clinical skills and education to ensure provision of best practice quality patient care in a family centred environment. This position is a permanent part-time appointment into the Health and Wellbeing Service Group.
Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides care for newborn babies that are often very unwell, NICU is a very busy world with a team of specialised nurses and doctors working around the clock to provide the best patient care and support to their families.
How you will be assessed
- Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
- Ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice.

Generous pro rata remuneration package (based on full-time equivalent value) up to $113,391 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range of $38.96 to $49.97 p.h. (NG5)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements
- It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
- Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- 6 month probation period.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
