About your opportunity
The Senior Operating Theatre Assistant/Trainer will provide orientation, training and in servicing to all new and current staff in equipment use, patient transfers, manual handling and tasks of an Operating Theatre Assistant.

This role also assists nursing, medical and surgical staff within the 14 Operating theatre complex and outlie areas to ensure a safe and efficient work area. At times the Senior Operating Theatre Assistant will need to assist the Supervisor Special Services and Nurse Unit Manager Perioperative with leading the team which includes rostering, staff allocation and Human Resource Management.

This role also works within operating theatres performing the role of anOperating Theatre Assistant.

Generous remuneration package value up to $82,165 p.a., comprising:

  • Salary range of$65,669 - $72,014 p.a. (OO4)
  • 17.5 recreational leave loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

About the role

  • Providing training and assessment to new staff to ensure competency.
  • Create training tools, education tools, orientation packages and assessment tools.
  • Assist with the transfer of patients to and from the operating tables using appropriate equipment.
  • Assist with Perioperative antiseptic preparation, limb support and manipulation, irrigation fluids, and basic cardiac pulmonary resuscitation.
  • Apply cast, splints and other appliances to patients as directed.
  • Cleaning of operating theatres and associated areas in accordance to the Queensland Health Guidelines and Infection Control Guidelines. This will include a high clean of the theatre environment by the operating theatre assistant during core business hours.
  • Maintain equipment in a safe, operational and serviceable condition.
  • Work in consultation with all members of the theatre team to maximise patient outcomes and ensure patient focused care.
  • Other duties as directed by the supervisor special services, or either of the nurse unit manager's in Perioperative Services.
