Fixed term temporary part time 64hrs per fortnight

Purpose of the role

Working at the Cairns Hospital within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, you will contribute as a dynamic Staff Specialist Acute and General Physician, providing high quality clinical care to patients and superior clinical leadership to our team.

Your opportunity

An opportunity exists to join a dynamic team of general and acute physicians delivering an effective, efficient and equitable specialist general medical service for the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital Health Service District. The department currently provides medical governance to over 130 inpatients admitted to General Medicine across Cairns Hospital and Gordonvale Hospital (Gordonvale Internal Medicine Unit). You will join your peers in providing robust education, supervision and training to approximately 30 junior doctors (AT's, BPT's, RMO's and Interns) that rotate through each term.

There is flexibility for the candidate to partake in the Hospital in the Home (HITH) SMO roster or other simililar inpatient or ED avoidance programs that are currently being developed. This employment opportunity is also open to candidates who are due to complete fellowship training in General and Acute Care Medicine at the end of 2023. The role reports directly to the Clinical Director, Medical Assessment Unit & General Medicine.
