An opportunity has become available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Psychiatrist Older Persons) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

About the role

Provide acute and continuing clinical care to patients of Mental Health and Specialist Services (MHSS) and to clinically manage on a day to day basis the associated multidisciplinary patient care team to ensure the provision of appropriate client care. In addition, provide professional leadership within psychiatry and provide training, education and supervision to junior medical staff and other health care members.

Requirements for the role

  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B and COVID-19.
  • Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRANZCP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and registrable as a psychiatry specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • Advanced Certificate in Older Persons Mental Health or the ability to obtain within 6 months of commencement.
  • The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster.

Salary information

  • Permanent full time
  • Estimated total remuneration up to $440,177 p.a., comprising:
    • Senior Staff Specialist - Base salary from $225,777 - $239,377 p.a
    • Staff Specialist - Base salary from $188,800 - $219,301 p.a
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
