About the role
- It is the purpose of this role to deliver social work clinical consultation and liaison services for child protection within the Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals and the community. The role encompasses the provision of specialist social work services that contribute to maintaining the integration of child safety initiatives. The service functions within an early intervention and prevention framework that seeks to enhance child protection for children and families at risk across the continuum.
- This includes the provision of leadership, specialist advice, consultation and education to multidisciplinary staff.

Clinical Practice
- Deliver high level evidence based social work clinical services, including counselling and consultancy, in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and AASW Professional Practice Standards through assessing clinical risk and the complex psychosocial needs of patients/ families/ carers.
- Demonstrate high-level understanding of the environment in which clinical decisions are made to influence health outcomes, including a broad understanding of the continuum of care and the organisational provision of multidisciplinary health services.
Communication/ Team Participation
- Monitor and report social work and child protection work practices and outcomes within the hospital and initiate, plan and evaluate service improvement activities and formal research to enhance service delivery.
- Provide clinical practice supervision, clinical education to staff and students to ensure the maintenance of clinical standards.
Leadership/ Work Unit Management
