About your opportunity

The Health and Wellbeing Service Group is currently seeking to recruit a Staff Specialist - Paediatric Surgeon to their team on a permanent full-time/part-time basis. This position is based in the Paediatric Surgery Unit at Townsville University Hospital.

ThePaediatric Surgery Staff Specialist will be working as part of the team in paediatric surgery at the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS). The THHS is the tertiary referral centre for northern Queensland. The paediatric surgical department is the only tertiary unit outside of Southeast Queensland and provides care to a catchment extending north to Torres and Cape, down to south of Mackay.

You will be expected tolook after a range of surgical specialities such as neonatal paediatric surgery, thoracic, paediatric burns, paediatric trauma, and the management of critically ill paediatric surgical patients. There will also be a requirement to provide outreach to our neighbouring HHS partners as required.

Remuneration package of up to $486,763 p.a. (+ other applicable allowances/benefits) comprising salary range of $7236.70 - $9175.30 p.f. or $90.45 - $114.69 p.h. (L18-L27), recreational leave loading (17.5%), employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%), attraction and retention incentive allowance, regional and rural attraction allowance, motor vehicle allowance, professional development assistance (allowances and leave), and inaccessibility allowance (if applicable). Level of appointment is dependent upon experience and advanced qualifications.

Requirements

  • It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Qualified as a medical practitioner, qualifications in speciality areas and current registration and/or eligible for registration as a paediatric specialist with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellowshipor comparability of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
  • Appontment to this positionrequires proof of qualification and, if applicable, registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • All applicantsmust be awarded Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) by the Townsville HHS Credentialing and SoCP committee.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
