An opportunity has become available for a Visiting Senior Specialist or Visiting Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Paediatrics) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

About the role

Provide clinical specialist support to the Paediatric Medicine department making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient centred clinical practice.

Requirements for the role

  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B and COVID-19.
  • Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRACP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and registrable as a general paediatrics specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • Strong clinical and teaching experience in general paediatrics.
  • A subspecialty paediatric interest would be advantageous.
  • The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster for the Paediatrics unit.
  • A Medical Officer must incur, and provide evidence of, ongoing costs from the operation of a private practice in order to be appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer/Specialist.

Salary information (Visiting Specialist)

  • Permanent part time
  • Visiting Senior Specialist: Base hourly rate $214.47 p.h
  • Visiting Specialist: Base hourly rate from $180.46 - 197.40 p.h
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • Fuel allowance

Salary information (Staff Specialist)

  • Permanent part time
  • Senior Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $108.18 - $114.69 p.h
  • Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $90.75 - $105.09 p.h
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
